Here is an interesting and informative blog about how healthcare came to be tied to our jobs. This goes back to WWII. It’s time for that to change.

Medicare is an insurance program for people over 65 and younger disabled people and dialysis patients.  Medicaid is an assistance program for low-income patients’ medical expenses.

Our healthcare system is so complicated, there’s now a cottage industry of patient advocates to help you navigate your care and insurance claims process.  This is ridiculous.  And these claims are administered by for-profit insurance companies. 

In a free market economy, the consumer is the driver.  The driver of costs, quality, and competition. In the healthcare economy, the patient would be the consumer. But we are not the driver.

It is indisputable that we have the worst, most expensive healthcare system in the world.  Here is a thorough study from the Commonwealth Fund.

Dental coverage through Medicare/Medicaid is so limited, it might as well be non-existent. Private insurance always has a separate policy for dental.

In 2019 Amazon started a pilot program to provide virtual primary and urgent care services for their employees.

A non-profit entity doesn’t have to pay taxes, they exist to fulfill a mission. The mission statement of the Memorial Hermann Health System is to “improve health.”

The patchwork of patient safety advocates span the country and have been working ten times as hard as
the healthcare industry to eradicate errors, for years.
