Why is Healthcare so Complicated?

Here’s an interesting history of how we got here.  https://truecostofhealthcare.org/

Our healthcare system is so complicated, there’s now a cottage industry of patient advocates to help you navigate your care and insurance claims process.  This is ridiculous.  And these claims are administered by for-profit insurance companies.

Another low-hanging fruit is to get insurance companies out of our healthcare.  I don’t see any other solution than a single payor system.  Expanding Medicare for everybody.  I am not a fan of big government, there’s a lot of bureaucracy and red tape and inefficient administrative overhead with this as well.  But what other choice do we have?  The US military could assist CMS in taking over healthcare delivery.

We need a hybrid public/private healthcare system, much like our educational system.

It doesn’t benefit us to have a healthcare system that doesn’t serve us, and is breaking our financial backs.

We need to un-complicate it and stop relying on the same entities that got us in this mess, to get us out.  Insurance companies are serving their interests.  Providers are serving their interests.  That’s human nature.

Patients, we need to start serving OUR interests.
